Sunday Recap
Hi all and wellcome to the Sunday recap. This is the second issue of this recap and we have some exciting content to share with you.
It’s been a great week so far. People is starting to share the newsletter with friends and family and I see the first referrals coming in. Please remember to tell them to check their email once they subscribe, otherwise they won’t count on your referral list.
There are 3 things on the menu today:
Inside story
Benefits of reading to children
Announcement
So without further ado, let’s get into in!
Last week we knew the story about Saira and from Pakistan and today we are going to meet Aparnaiyerr from India. The family is currently living in Dubai and has previously lived abroad as well.
They usually snuggle up in bed by 7 PM, talk about their day and share something they are grateful for on the day before reading our stories.
They enjoy traveling together, well that explains why they have been living in so many places!
The daughter enjoys any story that includes animals and that is a relief because there is plenty of stories with animals in Bedtime Newsletter, right?
Finally, they would like to share a beautiful verse in Sanskrit with us
Lokah Samastah Sukino Bhavantuh
Which translated into English might be something like:
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
Thank you for sharing your story and the beautiful verse with us!
Benefits of reading to children
Reading to your children offers a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond the simple joy of storytelling. From bolstering cognitive development and language skills to preparing children for academic success and fostering a deep emotional connection between parent and child, the advantages are profound and varied. Cognitive benefits include enhancing problem-solving abilities and decision-making, as well as supporting the growth of memory and attention span. Language acquisition is significantly boosted, with children exposed to reading from an early age encountering a wider range of vocabulary and linguistic structures than their non-read-to counterparts. This early exposure sets a solid foundation for academic excellence, as children who are read to from a young age are more likely to excel in school, demonstrating advanced reading comprehension and fluency skills.
Moreover, reading to your child fosters a unique bond, providing a sense of intimacy, security, and affection. It serves as a cherished activity that nurtures trust and emotional closeness, essential for healthy child development. Children who are read to regularly also exhibit greater empathy and creativity, as they are introduced to diverse characters and situations that broaden their understanding and acceptance of different perspectives and cultures.
For those looking to delve deeper into the myriad benefits of reading to children, the Children's Bureau offers an insightful overview highlighting the importance of this practice. Additionally, the BookTrust elaborates on how reading can mitigate socioeconomic inequalities and contribute to children's mental well-being, educational attainment, and overall happiness. The Child Mind Institute further emphasizes the impact of reading on expanding a child's vocabulary and background knowledge, which are crucial for their success both in and out of the classroom.
By making reading a regular part of your routine, you not only enhance your child's developmental trajectory but also enrich the quality of your relationship with them, creating lasting memories and a lifelong love for learning and exploration.
